I climbed out of it when I had important deadlines approaching, so I literally had to climb out of it and once I did, I fell into work mode again and enjoyed productivity, so I stuck with it. I don't usually confront my emotions but this was a bit different, where they were more accessible yet I still ignored them. Last year, I went to 9 for a bit and was quite unproductive and 'numb' to everything bothering me, but ironically, it was probably also the most relaxed I believed I felt in a while. I know I'm procrastinating on important things and hindering my progression forward, but it's so important for my wellbeing that I randomly believe everything'll be okay that I'd rather feel fine and unproductive than confront everything that's hindering me. I usually repress certain emotions (often sadness and worry), engage in meaningless or random tasks and hobbies, like helping people figure out their own emotions and problems, and cover up my worry with constant reassurance that it'll be okay. Paradoxically, a healthy Three is the most authentic and genuine person you will. I don't often realise I've gone to 9, until I've sort of climbed out of it. The Enneagram of Personality has nine inter-related personality bases.

And Type 3 (Achiever) disintegrates to Type 9. If I don’t do that I fear I’ll never climb out of this very dark 9 place. Type 1 (Reformer) disintegrates to Type 4. What does going to 9 look like for you? How do you climb out of it and feel your best self? How do you become more authentic to what matters most for you instead of burying your head in the sand and working just to maintain image? I want to feel more authentic to me, to what’s important to myself without the worry of failure attached. My issue is if I face too much failure or if someone toys with my image and makes me look bad, I “go dark” again so to speak. I’m working hard, everyone is happy around me and I’m feeling confident about myself. Of course, Threes have feelings, but as much as possible, they put. Threes tend to focus on task, on efficiency, on performance. The primary difference between these types can be seen in their relationship with their emotional life. When I’m on my A game, everything is great. Here also, misidentifications are probably the result of confusion over wing versus dominant type: 3w4 and 4w3. I’ve had people tell me when I’m stressed, I “just shut down.” It’s literally true, I hole up in my room and don’t clean, don’t come out, don’t try. I have to feel strong in order to stand tall again. 3’s, what does your life look like when you disintegrate to 9? I always start out really strong and then if I have too many things on my plate, I crash.
